While completely different in style and genre I get the same immense enjoyment out of reading Wodehouse as I do Agatha Christie. Both are formulaic but this does not detract at all from the pleasure I get from reading them.

Fun little romance. Not quite so slapstick as the Wooster/Jeeves books, but a quick, fun read.

Perfectly lovely, perfectly typical Wodehouse.

I'm probably over-rating this book, but I just had such a good time listening to it that I'm going to give it that little boost it needs to be a 4 star read. This book is almost too charming, with many if not all of the characters lacking everything but charm, and yet the irreverent ways in which they speak to each other and reason effectively puts a smile on your face, so you can't really fault them their faults--of which there are many.

From characters falling in love at first sight, to surreptitious rendezvous, and broken engagements, this book is a screwball comedy of the first degree. You can tell that the author just wanted to make people smile in a time where smiles were scarce.

I think it's a shame that stories like these aren't written anymore with the earnestness that P.G. Wodehouse tackled this. These characters, though zany and over-the-top, aren't caricatures of themselves or of anyone. Sure, an argument can be made that they now appear to be caricatures of the time, but that can happen upon any character created in an archaic landscape.

I liked this story, simple and fantastic as it was, and do believe that this story was born for the silver screen. With the antics that ensue it is sure to delight everyone from 10 to 100 years old. So what the hell--4/5 stars.

I found this book really fun and funny.
I have tried to read Wodehouse before but I couldn't get into the Jeeves books. This one seemed more familiar to me,, maybe just because we started with female characters, so I was able to get a start.
The book is a silly, light read. I liked the female characters and ,of course, everything worked out marvelously at the end.
For free on the kindle, I highly recommend it. If you plan to pay...maybe.

If you like PG Wodehouse books generally, you will like this one as well. A simple story about a girl Maud who dashes into George coincidentally. After that there is the usual confessions you can expect - she wants to meet Geoffrey, her relatives think she loves George. As with all PG Wodehouse books, the confusion clear up to lead to a happy ending!

One of my fav books of Woodhouse. It’s so good. She KNEW how to be Damsel in Distress. Men were falling over themselves trying to “help” her. Haha her poor brother. It was so good. I want to read this again.
