Solid story, but everything tied together too neatly. A heart-to-heart talk between Regina and her granddaughter would have helped.
The art was beautiful and history intriguing but the plot wasn't fleshed out enough to really capture the fullness and messiness that life in this situation entails.

A masterpiece of loss, regret, personal history and family legacy. Wry humor, great artwork, fully realized characters, and a complex understanding of the nuances of intercultural relationships all make this one great comic.

Rereading this six years later, it's lost absolutely none of its power and emotion. Beautiful work by Modan.

Kept my interest throughout. I really disliked the grandmother character - which is a mark of good writing.
Absolutely LOVED this graphic novel by Rutu Modan. Such rich and engrossing storytelling. Read in an evening…. Almost like watching a movie! Wish the library was still open at this late night hour so I could get more from the author!
A really sweet story about the ghosts of the past.
