Perfectly pleasant but pales in comparison to the first book. Explains away any unanswered things from the previous book, and doesn't add much at all.

This book was just as emotional as the first. I liked seeing so many characters from the original book, and I really enjoyed how connected all of the characters and events were (often without them even realizing it) but it was also a lot to try to fit into less than 300 pages.
Just the right comfort book. It was nice to visit Whistle Stop again and hear about Idgie's life.

Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe is one of my all-time favorite books. It pulls you in and wraps you up in the world of its characters, and feels like coming home with every re-read.
The Wonder Boy of Whistle Stop is a pale imitation, with barely any of the heart or soul that made Fried Green Tomatoes so special. The familiar characters feel like ideas of themselves rather than fully-fledged people, and the new characters feel like placeholders.
I honestly wish I hadn't read this and just re-read Fried Green Tomatoes again for the nth time instead.

I’m gonna preface this by saying I should have read Fried green tomatoes at the whistle stop cafe first, but that being said, this was a sweet story about connecting with your past. It took a little bit for me to get situated within the story, but Flagg does a great job giving personality and charm to the many stories through cities and time. Definitely does feel like she tried too wrap up everything nicely in a bow, which with life is not always how it goes so it felt a little unrealistic. But a fun quick read
It’s no “Fried Green Tomatoes” but still a decent read
A wonderful continuation of the lives and stories about the characters from [b:Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe|9375|Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe (Whistle Stop #1)|Fannie Flagg|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1165961740l/9375._SY75_.jpg|2129359]. The stories are told in the same manner of Fried Green Tomatoes, jumping from the present to stories of the past. Present day is Buddy Threadgoode, his daughter Ruth, and even Evelyn Couch. The past is still Idge and Ruth and The Whistle Stop Cafe.
Much like the first book, loneliness, family, belonging are major themes in the book.

A very quick and super easy to read feel-good book. It has been many years since I read [b:Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe|9375|Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe|Fannie Flagg|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1165961740l/9375._SY75_.jpg|2129359] and I don't remember any of the details. Still, reading this sequel felt like catching up with old friends.
