This one is a heartwarming quick read. One of my favorite movies ever is Fried Green Tomatoes. And I read the book a while ago, and now to the second one Fannie wrote.
It’s kind of back and forth, and a little confusing. But overall a good quick read to clear your mind to.

3.5 stars. It was cute. I loved getting to hear a slight bit more about Idgie and Ruth. I thought it was a little far fetched, but overall enjoyed the read.

I have loved every Fannie Flagg book I've ever read. They are sweet and wholesome without being too precious. They require some suspension of disbelief because the coincidences needed to propel her plotlines are almost astronomical, but Flagg makes you care about her characters so much that you happily go along with it.

In this one we revisit many of the characters from [b:Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe|9375|Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe|Fannie Flagg|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1165961740l/9375._SY75_.jpg|2129359]. The story is told in alternating time frames using newspaper articles, emails and narrative. Flagg is an expert at the flashback, which is how she sets up the foreshadowing and premise to the aforementioned astronomical coincidences. No matter. I am so emotionally invested in these characters that I will gladly believe whatever circumstance it takes for a happy ending. And this from a reader who relishes a good old tragedy!

Was I excited to go back to Whistle Stop? Yep. Was I disappointed? Yep. I mean come on. It’s 2020 and I still feel like we’re being forced to read between the lines. Harumph. And nothing really happened. Can we have more Idgie and Ruth please?
