This was an easy, feel good read. A little too perfect of an ending for me (land deed, Coca Cola heiress!!) but it was good to bring the story to an end.

Se consideravo Pomodori Verdi Fritti al caffè di Whistle Stop un gioiellino prezioso, Ritorno a Whistle Stop è stato un libro speciale di cui non pensavo di aver bisogno fin a quando non l'ho letto.
Leggerlo è stato veramente come tornare a casa dopo tanto tempo.
Ritrovare la scrittura spensierata dell'autrice Fannie Flag, tutti i personaggi che avevo amato nel primo libro e tutte le vicende narrate, tra passato e presente, mi ha colmato il cuore di gioia!
In un periodo ricco di confusione e stress avevo proprio bisogno di questo romanzo, della sua frizzantezza e dolcezza, del suo saperti parlare e consolare, del suo farti sentire che va tutto bene, che tutto può essere aggiustato. Che non tutto è finito o perduto, ma che tutto si rinnova e che può essere ritrovato. Questo libro è speranza, gioia e commozione: è vita dove non sapevi di averne più.
ammetto che quando Evelyn e Ruthie Junior sono diventate le nuove Evelyn e Ninny e allo stesso tempo sono diventate le Idgie e Ruth della situazione mi ha fatto piangere come una fontana. La storia di Buddy ardirpoco meravigliosa e il fatto che sia riuscito a vedere finalmente Whistle Stop ristrutturata insieme al cafè e a tutte quelle persone che sono volute tornare a casa sapendolo…io… è troppo per il mio cuore

Normally I pick up every new Fannie Flagg novel and read it, so I didn't think much about it when I started this one. It took me a while to realize that this novel is a sequel to one of the two Flagg novels I have never read: Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe. Yeah, you'd think the mention of Whistle Stop would have made the penny drop immediately, but no.
It didn't make too much of a difference, though. I enjoyed it as much as any other of her books. No belly laughs, but plenty of smiles and sighs of recognition. Normally I don't seek out “uplifting” fiction, which is a label applied often to Flagg's work, but for me, the missing arms and shotgun blasts keep it just honest enough.

What a beautiful book !
Yet I can get that it would be boring for many people as there is nobody getting abused or doing the abusing and nobody is destructive or self destructive and it is not filled with good or even bad sex and nobody is trying to outdo someone else or be the winner and there are no victims . This is a very unusual book and I would describe it as very well written and entertaining and just about basic humanity....

I liked this. It was a nice to read that Whistle Stop would be a town again. Adding more information to the original book was nice. You grow to love the characters and the town they once knew.
