A nice little book to listen to while walking my dogs.

Started slow for me. A lot of jumping between time and characters. Once I settled in though, I really couldn’t wait to get back into it.

Yes, it was good to remember the characters from Fried Green Tomatoes. No, this sequel shouldn't have been published. It feels like fan fiction. Very little plot.

I loved "Fried Green Tomatoes". I fell in love with the movie, then later read the book. If you ever wondered what ever happened to all your favorite characters after those left off, Fannie Flagg is back to finish the story.

It's nostalgic, it's a bit sentimental and silly, and it's a great follow up to the original book.

This was a cute book, folksy and pleasant. The time periods veered throughout the 20th century and into the 21st, mostly centering on Buddy Threadgoode, of Whistle Stop, Alabama, and his youth and then his golden years, along with his family. A familiar Fannie Flagg type book.

Review of the audio book read by Fannie Flagg.

This book was utterly charming! It was wonderful to return to the charm of Whistle Stop and become more acquainted with some of the characters that didn't get a major role in the first book/movie, like Dot Whiems. It blew my mind that Evelyn had become so much more than a Mary Kay saleswoman!

There were only two things I didn't like about this book. I felt Ruthie was a weak character, it seemed like she was always getting walked on by characters with bigger personalities. The voice that Fannie Flagg used for Billy was too much like young Buddy. I thought he was a child until he mentioned having a fiancé.

A heartwarming story of friendship, family and life. While I overall wish there was more characters from Fried Green Tomatoes explored and some aspects of the originals to this novel given more look in, I can honestly say I just wish there was more.

Perhaps because I'm reading this at the exact time I needed to read this, but I am not ashamed to say I cried at several points just because of the overwhelming feeling of love this novel has, much like it's precursor, and I can't think of something that has touched me so much recently. The snippets of life we see give such a full picture of life itself, as experienced by these characters, and all the highs and lows it brings.

A firm favourite, it will now hold a special place in my heart next to Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe
