I've been reading a lot of books by Fannie Flagg this year with a group of friends and of those I've read so far, this one is my favorite. I loved getting back with those characters we met in [b:Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe|9375|Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe|Fannie Flagg|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1165961740l/9375._SY75_.jpg|2129359] and this book brings us both forward and backward in time, as well as introduces us to new characters related those those we met and loved in FGT. I really liked that the little town of Whistle Stop plays a role in this story as well! That part was fun to watch unfold. The only issue I had with this book is that we kept jumping all over time, backwards and forwards, with no real patterns (at least that I could see) and it would take me a minute to get my bearings but overall, I really enjoyed this one.

Thank you to Netgalley and Random House Publishing Group for a copy of the ebook in exchange for a fair and honest review.

It was nice to visit Whistle Stop again and see relationships and story arcs come full circle. I was happy to get clear cut Idgie/Ruth confirmation but was really hoping for more Ruth content.

As with the first book, [b:Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe|9375|Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe|Fannie Flagg|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1165961740l/9375._SY75_.jpg|2129359], I enjoyed the story.
Flagg has a way of making characters come to life with their quirks and idiosyncrasies. I could picture the scenes as they were well detailed but it does help that I've lived in every place that Flagg mentions in the story. I was super excited when I heard there would be a sequel and I loved reading about the revitalization of Whistlestop and seeing Evelyn Couch as a successful and courageous business woman.
Would recommend for those that love Flagg and Fried Green Tomatoes.

quick read, light follow up to the long ago Whistle Stop and fried green tomatoes

Fannie Flagg is one of my favorite authors. It got excited to see a follow up to "Fried Green Tomatoes" all these years later. Reading a Fannie Flagg book is like reading comfort food. I immediately remembered and loved the characters even more this time around. Once I got used to the non linear style, I breezed through this book in 2 days. Also because I have a lot of Hot Pick holds to work through this month. It's a great book minus some inconsistences from the first book. Did Fannie's editors fact check her previous work for some noticeably wrong points? Besides that, it's a fantastic, lovely quick book that brought me back to my teenage years reading her books alongside my absolute favorite author, Alice Hoffman.
