I just cannot get behind this couple. Maria feels one-note and Peter is so, so immature for a 36 year old that it's honestly hard to root for him. I haven't even gotten halfway into the book, but I honestly don't want to. Going to give this a pass, unfortunately.
Thoughtful, loving, and full of yearning, this might be the best book yet in the Spoiler Alert series! Olivia Dade has outdone herself, with the story of the couple every Gods of the Gates fan (and even a few of their colleagues) hoped would just get together already.
This book is just filled to the brim with sexual tension and longing, but the cherry on top is how well they know each other. They’re just so fond of each other, so willing to help and be family to the other that you can’t help but sigh on envy. Their romantic arc ends on the most perfect note and the story even gives the reader plenty of falling action, which I think is highly underrated.
The fat representation is excellent as usual, and this book brings back so many familiar faces from the earlier stories. And while I hope this isn’t the conclusion (I’d just love Carah to have her own book!), it wraps up the Gods of the Gates storyline quite nicely.
The steamy slow-burn romance you deserve, especially if you’ve ever spent years hoping for your favorite tv couple to get together.

the time jump from season 1 to six years later was kind of weird and not handled all that well. not bad, but meh.

This is very cute! I don't know if I luuurrrvee it the way I do Spoiler Alert but it's definitely in the same vein. I think Olivia Dade does such a great job with having her characters go on well-earned, well-defined growth arcs. I think in this case Peter being so taciturn and withdrawn, it's harder to connect with him or to see why Maria loves him except for the slammin' chemistry. Maria is almost a little too self-aware and mature but I love that she's not working through intense trauma that a less thoughtful author might make her endure. This one just might be suffering a little bit in comparison to the books before it. If I had read it first I might not notice some of those issues. But overall, a super fun, spicy read!
I loved this book so much. Dade not only writes some of the best smart-alecky characters I’ve ever read that will fall in love with them and even when they act like a skitstovel aka shit-boot (I have got to say Swedish curses are so much better that American ones), but always seems to perfectly balances the heavier topics (Check CWs) and light rom-com moments. It was also great to catch up with all the various characters not only from the other books in the series but to see such great HEA’s for the supporting characters who truly steal their scenes (I’m looking at you Carah!) One last thing, the pinning is perfection and the sex scenes are scorching. I can’t wait to see what Dade comes up with next. Peter and Maria meet as a one night stand, and the next day they’re cast on the same tv show. Oops.
A solid 3.5, rounded up. A great addition to Dade’s series. There’s a time jump that felt like an easy out. That’s the reason for the lower star rating. Loved seeing the characters from the other two books in this story.

Setting and plot were fun, I enjoyed the characters. I also enjoyed how the author captured the influence of fanfiction and group dynamics. The third act breakup because Maria and Peter couldn’t articulate their thoughts/feelings was kind of annoying and I wasn’t a fan of them coming to the realization and how it seemed to take up pages. Overall, decent fun book.
