This is a book best walked into blind. Thatā€™s exactly what I did, because Iā€™d never read this author before. I will be reading more of her, though. This is an epic love story centered around grief, around the lies people tell for other peopleā€™s comfort. Itā€™s about allowing yourself to feel that grief, and how sometimes we have to do that alone. So, yeah, itā€™s about much more than angst, but thereā€™s plenty of that too. It jumps around in time, which can get confusing, partly because towards the end, the author didnā€™t do a great job of labeling the time periods. But I followed along just fine, and it didnā€™t hurt the experience. I wanted more grovel, but I did really like Mila... and Lucas, most of the time. If youā€™ve read this author, youā€™ll enjoy it, and if you havenā€™t like me, youā€™ll enjoy it too. Just be in the mood for some drama and angst!

This book was definitely good. It's about the journey of a married couple (Lucas and Mila) after Lucas's best friend commits suicide and leaves his friends and loves ones with questions as to why he would do something like that. Mila struggles to be there for Lucas as he tries to deal with the pain of losing his brother through his acting.
I stayed up until 5a.m reading it while having tears run down my face.

There's a lot I liked but also things that I didn't like:

Liked:
- The description of both POV's on what they feel and what they're going through.
- The immersive and detailed emotion of the characters.
- How real the scenes played out. I could imagine the scenes playing in my head which only made the emotional scenes more heartbreaking. Especially the scene where Lucas was giving his speech at the end of the book.
- Great writing (I did find a couple words that were either missing or spelled wrong tho)
- Lucas and Mila's realistic relationship. It wasn't perfect and they were opposites but they were making it work.
- The plot twist near the end of the book that had me shook.

Didn't Like:
- The constant back and forth between the timelines. (There were moments that I was so confused at what timeline I was reading. It would be a scene in the present but %90 of the rest of the chapter is a flashback to the past or a scene that's already in the past and has another flashback to the past). I was just tired of all the flashbacks.
- How vague Blake's backstory was. (Despite the characters knowing what Blake's situation was and the reasoning for his actions, they don't reveal it and that irritated me bc I felt like I spent this entire time reading but still didn't get the answers I needed. Like what did Gabrielle know about Blake? Why was Lucas pissed at her and threatened her to secrecy? What was the video Lucas saw and why did it cause him to be so angry?)
- Most of the book is about the past and not much on the present. (I keep wanting more of what was currently happening rather than how they went to a cinema in SFX makeup or moments of how they met and all.)
- Felt like Mila wasn't trying hard enough to reach Lucas. They would have an argument and then she would leave. She literally flew to see him to fix the situation but just left after 10 minutes of interaction.
- Rushed last chapters. When did Mila even find out she was pregnant? She wasn't showing symptoms at all but I guess that might've only been kept a secret for shock factor. Why did Lucas even see his first love? Never got a answer for that. What exactly happened after Lucas and Mila made up? How did she get over the emotional damage? Don't know. Doesn't matter bc they had a child and everything was fine. Huh? Did Lucas ever see a therapist or get help? Don't know. Was Blake SA's by the producers of the show he was in as a kid? Was that how his depression and addiction began? Instead of getting direct answers about these, there either wasn't an answer or it was given in a very vague method that confused me more.

Overall I'm giving this book a 3 star because even though I loved the writing style and the plot and twists it had, there were just too many things that irritated/confused me and was left with more unanswered questions.

4.5 brilliant stars

"He'd rearranged our universe to revolve around the other, and once we did, we were both sealed in our fate, destined to be the moon and obeying tide. I glowed in his affection while he swept me away with one electrifying wave after another."

How do you review a brilliant book that deserves all the feelings it made me feel poured into a small package of words? It's simple: You can't and I won't. Not that I don't want to tell you how fantastic and out of this world this book is, but because of the fact that you deserve to go into this story as blindly as possible. To freely open up to a world that feels so real and raw that it breaks your heart over and over again.

""You changed my luck, Dame. And for the first time in my life, I feel like if I ever need rescuing, I'll have somebody there to help save me."

I don't know how Kate Stewart does it. I really don't. To me she's the queen of angst. Seriously. Method moved me beyond borders. She moves swiftly and without effort from chapter to chapter and keeps us guessing. Guessing about the past, about the present and about the future. Nothing is obvious and every time you think it is, you get surprised.

"My heart had memorized his, matched his rhythm and synced, declaring itself loyal. It will never be the same. I will never be the same. Never again."

The realness and rawness of the characters is shocking and stunning at the same time. This is what makes this book so precious. The only thing why I can't give it fully 5 stars is the fact that I sometimes had problems following the timeline with the back and forth between present and different times in the past and I got sometimes confused in which timeline I'm actually in. Other than that I can't say a bad thing about this beautiful and perfect story.

"My husband loves me, but he broke my heart in a way I can't just bounce back from"

Method is a brilliant book that blows up every border in your mind between fiction and reality. It's a story that gets to you on so many different levels that you have no idea what hit you when you turn the last page.

"All it takes is a beautiful fake smile to hide an injured soul and they will never notice how broken you really are." (Robin Williams)

"I think everybody should get rich and famous and do everything they ever dreamed of so they can see that it's not the answer." (Jim Carrey)

Story about how a method actor deals with his grief of losing his best friend. Well done book going back and forth from the past and present. I think the lower rating was because I didnā€™t like the idea of his method acting and how he acted with his wife during those times. I know itā€™s the whole point but it made me want to DNF a few times

I was hesitant to read this at first. The description painted this as quite the angsty read and I like my romances light and fluffy. I have no desire to read about a marriage falling apart

That being said, this book and story completely surprised me. Yes, there are low/sad points for the characters but the author goes back and forth between past and present, you get the love story in the past while some drama unfolds in the present.

It was hard to read at points when the h&H were both hurting, but only because the author did such a great job of putting you in the charactersā€™ heads. But fear not, this one still has a happy ending. It checked all the boxes for me.
