Didn’t want to put it down. Somehow this book just found a way to trap me. I needed more. Had to keep reading. Had to keep going. Never would I have thought it would have ended the way it did but it made so much sense that way especially with all the craziness that went on in that house. At first I was like maybe I can live there but as I was reading more and more yea hard pass on living there. Maybe a tour but that’s it. I love thrillers that keep me guessing and wanting more. This one is one of those books.
I am so done with the marketing promising me one thing and finding out the hard way that the actual book is something else entirely.
This book is marketed as a horror, with the synopsis implying that the house our main character moves into is haunted, but this book is most certainly a thriller. All I'm asking for is a book about a haunted house where the house is ACTUALLY haunted.

Matlin definitely knows how to amp up the tension! Between the unreliable narrator and the creepy murder house, this one had my heart racing. It had a rushed ending though, leaving me with unanswered questions.
Not only were the characters unlikable, the twist was lame. Skip this one.
This book sets you up for a chilling horror story right from the start, and doesn't disappoint. I've been living in my house for a few years now, and I was still looking over my shoulder while reading this. I love the whole perfect life on paper, not so much in real life, that Sarah has going on for her. Creepy house, rocky marriage, and neighbors that would prefer you weren't there? What else could go wrong? (I won't tell you, you'll have to read to find out). Matlin does an amazing job of building tension and upping the creepy vibe which each new chapter. I was absolutely hooked, and didn't want to stop reading until I knew how it would all end. The perfect read to get you in the spooky season mood!
