As an engineer I enjoyed this book quite a bit. Always good to learn about strong women ahead of their time, especially ones you didn’t know about. This was my historical fiction book club pick for the year, and we’ll see what the rest of the crew had to say about it on Sunday.

The story is not well developed in my opinion. It has such great potential as a story but I felt it fell flat. I was intrigued to see where it would go but did not enjoy it. I found the romance with P.R unnecessary. Hope to read another book by the author in the future. Best of luck.
Fantastic historical novel delving into the relationship of Washington and Emily Robeling.

I'm not in love with this book, but I don't hate it either. It was intriguing to learn how the bridge was born to life and what Emily went through to get it done, especially in the 1800s.
PT Barnum is in the book, too, lol. It was funny to see him feed Emily and her son peanuts because they were only animal feed for elephants.
I didn't care for Emily and PTs love for one another. I knkw she li wd her husband and he her but their love was a different kind and I felt like she really wasnt there fir her chuld either.
I did not really like or hate any of the characters.
I'm just not a fan of this type of writing; historical fiction. However, the author did a good job with the story and her research.
