I wasn’t sure I’d like this but the bridge building had a lot of drama. Next time I’m in New York I want to walk the Brooklyn Bridge!

This was an entertaining book about building the Brooklyn Bridge.  However, I objected to adding a fictitious romance between PT Barnum and Emily Roebling.  Historical fiction should bring history to life not wildly rewrite the story line.

I was really excited to read this book but it took awhile because of how slow it is (YAWN). I enjoyed the parts that focused on engineering ethics, women’s rights to work and vote, family dynamics, and grief. However, I think all the filler content made the book too long and hard to read. I know it’s called historic fiction but not everything needs to be made up!!!!
