I would be remiss to say that I don’t love everything that García Márquez has ever written! I have been a fan of his for longer than I can say about most authors. This story used clearly outdated language, but it is still beautifully written and whimsical as ever, as all of García Márqez’s work tends to be (hello magical realism
I’ve read this book about 4 times now and it never ceases to be one of my favorites. His style of writing is beautiful and painful and joyous all at the same time.

While this novel has an interesting premise, I find it rather uninteresting to read about the same murder over and over. The novel also could be gruesome, especially at the end when the author gives you every detail about the murder. It is a good novel and one you should definitely read before you die, but it is not a favorite.
