This was my first book by Gabriel García Márquez. It was like nothing I've ever read before. When I finished reading it I felt like I was in a different place than when I started. I went out on the streets around my house shortly after and noticed several things which have changed in small ways. This contributed to my feeling of being in a sort of alternate reality. At the time, the story felt more real than reality itself. I had all this insight into it and I was under the impression that my observation abilities have heightened. I loved it.

This book was quite unsettling. How could everyone know that a man was to be killed but nothing was done to stop it? And tbh it's an excruciatingly boring read.
