a fascinating quick read that is surprisingly heartfelt. really shows marquez’s skill at writing and characterisation, even stripped from the magical realism that he’s known for. interesting reflection on morality, collective responsibility, and how quickly communities can fall into chaos

this book got me back into reading this year so

This was my first book by Gabriel García Márquez. It was like nothing I've ever read before. When I finished reading it I felt like I was in a different place than when I started. I went out on the streets around my house shortly after and noticed several things which have changed in small ways. This contributed to my feeling of being in a sort of alternate reality. At the time, the story felt more real than reality itself. I had all this insight into it and I was under the impression that my observation abilities have heightened. I loved it.

sinceramente me re gustó

"It was very easy," she told me, "because I'd made up my mind to die."

This book was quite unsettling. How could everyone know that a man was to be killed but nothing was done to stop it? And tbh it's an excruciatingly boring read.
