a tentative 3.5 stars HOWEVER. i have been hoodwinked. lied. deceived. and i can’t even say why because it’s such a massive spoiler. the fact i feel so passionately about the ending is why i’ve gone with a 3.5 rating over a 3.25.
currently, my biggest pet peeve of this book is that, in places, it felt super rushed. i was getting whiplash. especially towards the end which just felt really rushed. the ending itself was good, don’t get me wrong. but it was SO RUSHED. and other parts of the book just felt really unnecessary (like the countless smut scenes that weren’t explicit but were) so that was kind of sad.
i do love the little pieces of the plot from not only this book but the other two in the series that came together in this because some series (ahem OUABH even tho i love you, you are so guilty of this) don’t do that. that being said, the rushed ending did feature some answers to questions that just kind of felt like a set up for book four rather than anything else. it was really confusing tbh.
i cheered every time my man oro was on the page. my husband, my man, god bless his soul. i do adore him…in book two primarily. in skyshade? less so BECAUSE HE IS BARELY THERE. it feels like he’s just added to remind us of the love triangle at this point because unfortunately, i will admit that it is so clear that grim is endgame for this series. the author has admitted he’s her favourite and let’s be honest, why would we have this whole book rebuilding isla and grim’s relationship, trust and genuine love and respect for each other for nothing? (don’t get me wrong, i know why she loves oro but even in her internal monologue it’s clear to see grim may in fact be better for her I’M SORRY ORO I LOVE YOU I PROMISE).
plus, isla literally ERADICATES A BEACH because she can’t feel grim and thinks he’s dead but when oro is dying in front of her she is not levelling anything. there is no “love them both equally”, this girl i fear is delusional. maybe if oro had more page time, idk, i’d have believed it more. (am i still holding a tiny bit of oro endgame hope? yes that’s my man. do i think it will happen? probably not)
anyway, alex aster, i demand answers and the next book imminently, thank you.

If you liked this book I’m sorry this review is not for you..
I gave it two stars based solely off the first 70% of this book. Grim, lynx, and Wraith this review is not about y’all I hope the three of you go on living happy lives.
✨Anyways✨ the main character of a story has never worked so HARD to make the reader hate them but Isla? She worked OT girl!! She has become so incredibly insufferable I almost DNFd but alas, i persevered. Somehow this love triangle has continued all the way to the end of the third book (which is crazy work cause she literally married grim again in this book just to turn around and have

This book started slow, but kept building the entire way through. The last third was incredible, and I couldn't put it down. I thought this was the final book in the series, but thank goodness there is more to come in my favorite new all-five-stars series!

Least favourite in the series but was enjoyable at times. Will read the last book
