This was short but fun. Not a lot happened but I really liked the way Lilith’s grief was played out.

Take a shot every time a woman's nether regions are referred to as her "core," and I promise, you'll come away from this book good and drunk. I would recommend this book with a glass of Taylor Port and a really nice bubble bath.

❝The moment I laid my eyes on her, I knew that she was more than the sun and the stars. She was everything, and I was never going to let her go.❞

CHARACTERS

» Death / Letum – I'm absolutely in love with him. He’s hot, obsessive, possessive, dominant, protective, gentle, sweet, romantic, caring... And perfect. He's a stalker, yes, but there's so much more to him. He's pure perfection. (You'll find out once you read it. Trust me.)

» Lilith / Lili – I connected with Lili almost right away. You see, I have a thing for broken characters, and Lili was exactly that. She is shattered to pieces by tragedy, and a deep sense of loneliness and grief. Her journey is both beautiful and heartbreaking, and I loved every minute of it.

❝She is a storm on winter’s day, and I will be content with never seeing the sun again.❞

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT

»Letum and Lili’s relationship is intense from the start. He is determined to never let Lili go, even when she isn't quite sure if she wants him to walk out of her life or not. He is fascinated by her, leaving her love letters and gifts, even when she doesn't notice. His poetic words win you over and the fierceness of his affection for Lili make you wish you were her. Lili is his entire world, and their journey together is even more compelling as the story progress. By the end of the book, I was inevitably rooting for them with every fiber of my being.

❝Just as a ship comes to harbor, our meeting is inevitable, my darling Lilith. At the corner of the earth, I will wait for the ship to come. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but I will be there to greet you and all the souls that will come after.❞

WRITING STYLE

Avina's writing style is both superb and poetic. The way in which she writes Death is remarkable, and every little thing he says or does is worth quoting. The entire novella shows just how great of a writer is she, and I have nothing but praises for her. She never ceases to surprise me with her stories -she also writes under another name-.

❝What do you want from me?❞
❝Everything.❞
❝Why?❞
❝Because you were made for me, Lilith. My perfect other. Fate has aligned and brought you to me.❞

PLOT DEVELOPMENT

The plot is gripping and unique. The way in which all the elements weave and tie up together by the end of the book creates an ever changing atmosphere, filled with well-crafted clues of what's to come. The pace of the book is amazing and allows for a quick, engrossing and thought-provoking one-sitting read.

❝Seeing her wear my mark around her neck pleases me more than I thought it would. The silver symbol glints when it catches the light, making my night monster’s eyes sparkle.❞
