Very informative on complicated topics but easily digestible. He does this well. I rate it 3 stars just because towards the end I was loosing interest because it felt repetitive at times- but a very good book and I think people should read his story because I definitely learned a lot.

I was lucky enough to hear Jose speak at a conference and reading this I literally heard his voice in my head. He does an excellent job of weaving data and statistics along with personal experiences and anecdotes.

This is a fascinating reflection on being (or NOT) “illegal”, from the lived experience of a lovely writer. His honesty was powerful and important. The book ended rather abruptly, and I wished for more of a final reflection, but perhaps the lack of resolution is indicative of his experience.
