The Bookshop Sisterhood tells the story of four book lover friends—Toni, Celeste, Leslie and Yasmeen—who decided to open a Bookshop together, and all the struggles, issues and drama they faced before the big opening day.

I have some issues with this book. I found the drama was too dense, taking the front seat, at some specific moments of the plot, Nothing wrong with that, but the premise was that they were opening a bookshop, and all the things surrounding their respective lives while doing it, and all the bookshop stuff was kinda hidden behind the curtain. In other words, the plot wasn't totally balanced.

That said, I have to say that all the drama between the four friends was nicely developed. That's something we have to highlight, because there were four storylines, and blending all together isn't an easy task. Kudos to Ms. Lindo-Rice for managing it extremely well.

This book is about secrets, truths, and friendship I have the joy of reading.

Thanks Harlequin and Netgalley for the ARC.

Four best friends with a love for one another and books. Never missing a book club and are always there for one another. Celeste, Yasmeen, Toni and Leslie best friends from college are not only friends, but sister friends, the best kind of friends you can have that are more like family. In a matter of months these ladies all go through life altering moments, all while planning to open a bookstore café together. A dream of mine someday as well. This book was a lighthearted easy read for me. The story was engaging, interesting, and threw some curve balls, but was tied up with a bow in the end.

I loved the writing style, and the back and forth of each characters stories.

As a first time reader of Michelle Linda-Rice I was first interested in this book from the title, cover and description. I’m glad that I was pick to receive an ARC on this title from NetGalley, as I truly enjoyed this book.

True friendships stand the test of time and weather a multitude of storms. Celeste, Toni, Leslie and Yasmeen have weathered storms before but as they try to open a bookstore to harbor their true love of reading, all their lives takes twists and turns. When the expected, good or bad, happens who do you turn to? Who shows up for you even when you don’t want to see or talk to anyone? How do you show up after a big blowout?

I waited months for this book to become available on audio only for it not to be what was described. The bookshop definitely was in the shadows with the messiness of the friends’ lives at the forefront. I honestly kept forgetting about the bookshop. I did appreciate the somewhat random book/author shoutouts because some of them I’ve already read or are on my TBR list. But yeah, this def was not what it was made out to be
