For a book that had so much going on plot-wise, it’s interesting how slow it felt at times. The characters’ struggles felt cyclical and I found myself waiting for something to finally break it.

The buoying factor amongst all of this though was the realistic representation of womanhood and female friendships; we’re not perfect, but we’re much happier when we can push back against who society expects us to be (or not be) and the inherent expectations that we fight each other rather than uplift.
