Overall it was a good read. I did go into this wanting to read about the bookshop and how it ran through their sisterhood. Instead, I got a lot of author name drops and the drama of these four frenemies. Seriously, who talks to their ACTUAL friends this way?
All four made bad decisions, closed their eyes to things that were obvious in their relationships…all four were a hot mess. The bookshop was like sparse sprinkles on four drama cupcakes.
I hated how after that huge frenemies fight each women decides to do the bookshop on her own, with Celeste renaming and claiming it outright as her own. You didn’t even try hard to salvage the friendship and therefore the JOINT ownership of the bookshop.
Overall it was okay. I’ll try some more things from this author.

Really touching story about sisterhood…and the challenges that can come with sisterhood.
I also liked the focus on themes like healthy relationships, honesty, forgiveness, healing, and acceptance. I highly recommend this book.

I have never known peace quite like knowing that I have finally finished this book and I never have to pick it up again.
I just- this was not good. Not one part of it. Every character but one was unlikable, vindictive, petty, and immature. The “sisterhood” was full of women who demeaned, belittled, insulted, and fought with each other at every time. Every man (apart from Kent) was problematic, manipulative, pathetic, and the opposite of a loving, caring partner. The “bookshop” mentioned in the title was brought up so little that I could probably count the instances on my two hands. The title was basically irrelevant, especially since the bookshop opened, but only in the name of one of the women. Hello?? The sisterhood didn’t even get a bookshop together!
Yasmeen was so painfully naive that it hurt. Celeste, while dealing with trauma, was so unreasonable. Toni was just plain unlikeable (and the trying to persuade her fiancé, who wanted to wait until marriage, to sleep with her?? WRONG, RED FLAG). Leslie was clearly just the token white character, but thankfully had the most interesting storyline, though that’s not saying much.
This entire book was so drama-filled that it made me roll my eyes whenever the women opened their mouths or one of their men walked into the room. None of this was anything like the warm story about books, friendships, and love that I wanted or expected it to be. I can’t even say that I would have wanted it drama-free because that’s not true, some of this drama would have been fine, but I didn’t order a soap opera. And that’s what this was. A bad soap opera.
I hate being so negative in reviews, but I really don’t have anything good to say about this one. A real shame, really disappointed by it.
