this is my second time reading this book and i’m sticking with a 4 stars.

this book is so easy and nice to read, i like how
even though they technically get together early they aren’t really together until much later.
i don’t love chapter
29-33 but that’s just because i hate that books have to have conflict at the end. i just want everyone to be happy and no miscommunication or anything that causes a break/breakup.
but i guess you to have it or whatever.

can’t wait to read lucy’s book again, i remember really liking that one!

So much of this didn’t sit right with me.
The scene where she’s drunk and forces herself on the MMC
The crush she had on him as a small child still dominating her emotional and sexual priorities. The sex scenes were cringey and the characters didn’t develop - just a really stagnant story considering all that happens in it. The roommate drama was predictable
except the mmc being drugged
I’ve loved other books by this author and normally like the tropes this one has - it just wasn’t for me

I was honestly disgusted by this book. There were so many things wrong with it. First, Jason basically raped Olive,
she was super drunk and she kept asking him to have sex with her, she was horny and whatever. She then takes his hand and puts it inside of her underwear, but then what does he do? You’d expect that he would pull away and realise that he shouldn’t do anything to her because she’s DRUNK and she cannot give consent, but no, he then thought to himself that, “she’s really drunk, and I know that she won’t let it go if I don’t give in to her. So I’m not going to have sex with her, but I’m still going to finger her because I’m such a good person, give me some applause.”
After that scene I thought that there would be something written about it afterwards, like, maybe in the next chapter she would wake up and be mortified or something. But no, there was ZERO mention of this for the rest of the book. He raped her and the author wrote that as if it was romantic. Yikes.
There was way too much sex in this book. Listen, I love a steamy book, but not when that’s literally all there is, they had no chemistry at all, and all they did all day long was have sex. Their relationship didn’t evolve at all, they just kept having sex and then they were in love, but how did that happen? We don’t know. There was no depth at all to their relationship, which is sad because the premise had so much potential with them knowing each other as kids and then not seeing each other for years. Also the sex scenes were so long, they were like 15 pages long, give me a break 😖.
Lastly, I couldn’t stand Lucy, I’ve said it a lot before in other reviews, but why does the best friend of the female mc always has to be the cringiest character ever? They’re all the same: someone who only cares about sex and talks about it all day long, but actually had been hurt in the past and the sex talk is an act to protect themselves. They cannot commit to any relationship because of whatever trauma happened in their past, but they’re always described by the main character as a really loving person and that’s why they get hurt by the people around them. They have sex with every breathing moving living thing, and they constantly talk about the main character having sex with their romantic interest, while also saying all the time that they wish they could have sex with him too. And they could give you a 20 pages essay about how every single body part of the male mc is the sexiest thing ever. They cannot be serious even for one second, they always have to act as if everything is just a silly goofy joke.
Did I describe Lucy and literally 95% of female main characters’ best friends well enough?
I’m so disappointed that this book was so bad, because I only read one other book by Ella maise and it was marriage for one, which is one of my favourite books, I gave it 5 stars and I just absolutely love it, so I thought that this would also be a great book, but it completely missed the mark.

Meh. It wasn't the worst thing I've ever read, but it was pretty basic NA contemporary romcom. Pretty forgettable, and I was honestly bored by it.

Boy do I love a fake dating/marriage book. It was so well executed. I loved Olive's relationship with Lucy. I love the one bed trope that was included. It was funny at times and so sweet. I was grinning a lot during my read.
Some slight spoilery concerns I had below;
the part where Olive is drunk and in bed with Jason I found a bit yuck. Also when they wake up after their first time together and Olive is already on top of Jason, just no. Those parts were really noncon for me.
