It was not a bad book but idk it was very predictable and when I got to this point I just kept choosing other books instead of this. I am not a big friends to lovers supporter so that might be another reason why the story didnt hold me in its grasp till the end.

To be honest, I really enjoyed this book. I really enjoy the brother’s best friend trope, as well as the childhood-friends-to-lovers trope. I think the dynamic between Jason and Olive was pretty well done & definitely realistic, with Olive thinking she is clingy and annoying and Jason not realizing he was in love with her until later. Because, let’s be honest, it’s not very realistic if *both* parties were in love with each other from the very beginning, especially with the age difference.

However, there was a few things that keeps me from giving it anything higher than a 4/5. For one, the first few chapters focusing on their childhood seem out of place. I get that she’s giving backstory/context, but they do not seem like they belong in the story. As well the scene where he gives her an orgasm when she was like blackout drunk made me uncomfortable. Yes, she was encouraging it but she was also way too drunk to consent; it’s different if you’re in a committed relationship but they were nothing at this point. They had never had sex. It was so odd and I wish it wasn’t in the book.

This book was cute but forgettable. Jason Thorn also kind of sucks.

Yes it was good at points, but I am a bit disturbed at the fact that 16 year old Jason (sorry I cant remember the exact age) was hitting on 13 or 12 year old Olive. I understand she’s a little girl that has a crush on her brother hot best friend, but that was really weird.

I also dont understand why Olive just accepted the fact Jason ghosted her whole family after everything theyd done for him. Personally I’d be a little mad.

I did love Olive at some points though, her standing up for herself against Marcus and not forgiving Charlotte like a lot of Mc’s would of done bc everything has to have a happy ending right?

I did like the read but it did kind of turn into a whole lot of spice at the end which was a little annoying. Still enjoyed the book though.
