This was amazing. The world building was wonderful and the FMC (Wren) and MMC (Sin) were well done. Their relationship was a beautiful enemies to lovers that was filled with banter and steam. I couldn’t put it down and now wanting book two.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Alright, friends, let me just say, "The Blood That Binds Us" by Erin Mainord? It's the book that grabbed me by the collar and said, "Forget sleep, you're in my world now." And what a dark, delicious world it is.

Wren's journey had me hooked from the get-go. Picture this: a bloodwitch who's more haunted by her powers than any ghost story you've heard, trying to navigate a world that would rather see her locked up—or worse. Her power? Terrifyingly mesmerizing. And the way she steps into her strength? Chef's kiss.

Enter Sin, the brooding ruler with a heart encased in, well, let's not say ice, but definitely something frosty. Seeing Wren through his eyes before their paths even cross? Genius move, Mainord. It's like peeking behind the curtain at the wizard, only the wizard is a white-haired witch with a backbone of steel.

Their relationship? Imagine mixing oil with fire—explosive, unpredictable, and undeniably captivating. The tension between them? It's the kind you can cut with a knife, served with a side of sizzling glances and charged encounters that had me fanning myself. The spice was definitely spicing

And let's not skim over the world Mainord crafts—dark, enchanting, and as complex as a vintage wine. The blend of magic, mystery, and the whisper of war paints a backdrop so vivid, you can almost smell the blood and betrayal in the air.

But folks, that ending. I won't spoil, but let's just say I was left gaping, a mix of heartache and disbelief. Mainord knows how to twist a tale, toss in a few gut punches, and leave you desperate for more. Can't wait for the sequel!

I don’t have a ton to say about the contents of this book other than I hate that Singard completely betrayed Wren! Ugh I have a love hate relationship with books ending like that. But I can understand it! I look forward to seeing what happens in book two.

What I absolutely LOVED though was the voice actor for the MMC on the audiobook! Oh heeee was delicious to listen to especially because it was a duet narration 🤤🤭🫠 I was a puddle anytime he spoke and the dialogue the author gave him when talking to Wren scratched an itch in my brain that I didn’t know I had! There were so many moments where my eyes went wide just by the way he called her “love” 😳😏 it made my insides tingle! 😅 I’d love it if he just narrated my life honestly!
