As a huge fan of Star Wars: Rebels, I was really excited to read this book. The book is very segmented, but so far, that okay with me. Finally, I get to know more about Sloane. The overreaching surveillance of Imperial citizens gave me communist China or even KGB vibes.
Oh my goodness, Count Vidian was such a frustrating character. It felt like we were trying to be a mix of Count Dooku and General Grievous. How is Sloane surprised Vidian would randomly murder people?
I would have loved to get more of Kanan's escape story. I love the bits we got, but I craved to know more. I especially loved Dave Filoni's epilogue. Overall, I very much enjoyed the book.

So, this is the first official, canon Star Wars book and I HAD to read it simply because it was set in an era that I haven’t read many books in. Also, it was introducing characters that I was thrilled to get to know because of their presence in the upcoming Star Wars: Rebels. I was a HUGE fan of the Clone Wars series, but I am more eager to get to these episodes. The last Star Wars book I read Was “Scoundrels”, and I would say this was on par with that one. It was no “Thrawn Trilogy” or “Shadows of the Empire”. While it was useful in getting a feel of our new characters, there were mostly no-names in the book and none of them were particularly memorable. It seems that the book had run-of-the-mill plot devices. However, it did feel like a Star Wars book, which is more than I could say of “Scoundrels”.

I am in like with this book. It was definitely and average kind of book hence the 3 star rating. I think the story moved quickly which was nice and the characters were decent there just wasn't anything all that special. I also would have liked more a Hera or maybe just a book in her perspective. Not as bad as some of the reviews on her would suggest but nothing extraordinary either.

I was pretty off and on with this book but wow what a fun ride! I vastly enjoyed watching the development of Kanan and Hera’s relationship. Kanan’s character was written so well, I thoroughly enjoyed reading. Overall i’d say this was a fun read!

I read this book but have not seen the show Rebels yet, my opinion may change seeing how this is a tie in
Solid intro to Kanan and Hera, a good start to the new EU.
