Travel land and sea, meet the animals who live there and the songs they sing.
First of all: download the free app and listen to the music as you read! To read this book without the music is to miss 1/2 of the joy and beauty of the book. My only complaint about the book was that the musical pieces were a bit long for antsy toddlers. {This was the 1/2 star drop for me.} As an adult, I appreciated the length and adored the score. But I do imagine toddlers will squirm in their seats if you make them listen to the full pieces. So, don’t make them … start the music, read the poem (lyrics), point out things on the page, flip, scan new page with phone camera, and start again.
This book is so much more than a delightful peek at animals, their habits and habitats, and the music they sing. Not only are the words rhyming and fun, set to music that brings the animals right into your house but the artwork is exquisite with the animals’ expressions and movements full of light and joy that the music also underscores. The art and music are not the only bonuses though! On each double-page spread, go on a hunt for the cheery bumblebee. {I had a particularly hard time on the boar page … and bumblebee was right THERE!} Each animal also presents some letters that depict a coded message. I did not take the time to decode this (the key is on the author’s note page) but another reviewer’s wife did. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3645560288 And, lastly, each of the animal’s also offer a bit of life advice – poignant enough for me to make note of each one.
So … which animals “spoke” to me the most? I adored the kangaroos’ tune, the boar’s tubas make me smile, and, in addition for having “me” depicted lazing in the tree, the cheetah’s message may as well have had my name printed on the page in bold, italic, caps: It’s important to give everything you’ve got! But don’t forget to rest and refill your tank. The artwork on The Ray’s page was simply beautiful, peaceful, and a clear favorite for me, just as the animal itself is.
So much fun and cheeriness within these pages. It is a book to read over and over – and you’ll find something new each time!

My rating is heavily influenced by the fact this is a book for children. But also? It was really fun to read! And listen to! And decipher! The multimodality was really fun, and I greatly enjoyed looking for the hidden items on each page.
Não sei quantas ⭐️ oficialmente, porque não tive a experiência completa de acompanhar a leitura com a música
This was a weird little mish-mash of things. The app that plays music for each page didn't always find the picture and I may not have known exactly what I was supposed to point the camera at. The arrows on the app were at least consistent helping me move on to the next song. I could definitely hear the animals that were in the picture in each of the songs. That was cute and fun, but the poems seemed unrelated to the song, and the morals weird and random. The letters on the pages spell out the instruments...mostly. I had a couple of extra random letters on the triangle page that I never figured out and a couple letters I don't think I ever found even though I knew what instrument I should have been spelling. The book starts out showing you the picture of the instrument on the page following the clue. But then sometimes the instrument comes before the clues or the instrument is seen in the same picture of the clues and it just was not consistent. It's like they dropped the pages when they were turning them in and picked them up in whatever order they fell. The poems work in any order because there is no overall story, but the clues and answers get a bit mixed up. It also would have been nice if the information about the animals was actually true and not just repeating incorrect by widely believed lies. Cute idea.
Me encantó. Un libro súper divertido y entretenido para niños y no tan niños. Yo me divertí un montón buscando las pistas y resolviendo los acertijos

Wild Symphony by Dan Brown
Illistrated by Susan Batori
4⭐️
Children's Picture Book
Good for grades 3rd-8th
Format: Hardcover

Once again I did story time at work. I read them Wild Symphony. This book also has an accompanying app that plays music that matches the story. It's a great book about animals and music that celebrates differences and teaches valuable lessons about being a good human. If you read it to a younger audience the lessons will fly over their heads. Good for older kids. I can see this being a great lesson for music in the classroom.

Travel through the trees and across the seas with Maestro Mouse and his musical friends! Young readers will meet a big blue whale and speedy cheetahs, tiny beetles and graceful swans. Each has a special secret to share.
Along the way, you might spot the surprises Maestro Mouse has left for you- a hiding buzzy bee, jumbled letters that spell out clues, and even a coded message to solve!
Children and adults can enjoy this picture book as a traditional read-along, or can choose to listen to original musical compositions as they read--one for each animal--with a free interactive smartphone app, which uses augmented reality to play the appropriate song for each page when a phone's camera is held over it.

It was... fine? It just felt like it was doing alot- possibly too much. Like... it took a long time to get through this. And I did get the app to accompany the book, but it did not work like it was indicated. So... I appreciated what he was going for- it just wasn't what I was interested in.
This one surprised me - a well-written rhyming story, music that goes along with each animal, and puzzles on each page (well, it is a Dan Brown book!). A fun reading experience!
