Thrillers are really hard for me because I find it difficult to suspend my disbelief and just go with the flow. That was my biggest issue with this book. Everyone was so unbelievable that the book itself was unbelievable. It started out good, but as things progressed and the plot got more convoluted, I found myself enjoying it less.

I honestly had no inkling of what the truth was up until the very end. It was kind of slow and first, and very sad, but the unveiling was worth it.

Definitely a twist I didn’t expect, but I was very emotionally invested in the characters
I have mixed feelings on this book. The twists, while unexpected, also seemed incredibly far fetched. And the manner of suicide for one character stretches credibility that the police would ever rule it a suicide to begin with. The kidnapping scenario in the beginning was difficult to get through but also the only time we are in that character’s POV which seemed strange. Honestly a lot just didn’t add up in the end. The climax is engaging but also INCREDIBLY short. I also feel the name of the book isn’t really representative of what the book actually is but I digress. I wish it would’ve been better.
This was a wild ride! There were some parts that dragged a bit and some information that wasn’t too essential to the overall plot in hindsight. However, the plot twist was shocking!! The audacity!
I really didn’t see it coming. I appreciated the way the chapters were formatted with characters perspectives from then and now.
I recommend looking up trigger/content warnings for sure!

This was a great thriller and mystery novel. It became so hard to put down that I found myself reading it at every opportunity I could. I seriously did not predict any of it until the final reveals were done towards the end. I thought I had it figured out multiple times throughout, and always ended up being wrong. The story is fast paced, intense and emotional. Even the chapters that weren't directly thrilling, like Shelby's birth scene, or Kate's doctor visit, were poignant. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a twisty thriller.

The writing and pace of this novel were very good, the mystery of the disappearances were kept up with good tension, and a steady trickle of information.
Content wise, this wasn’t for me, and that’s affected my rating. I’m not sure how I ended up with this one, but oh well. I can’t rate it higher because it feels like it’s a crime/murder novel with no real point to it except to torture the characters and leave the reader disturbed and sad. The bizarre monologue about women’s rights during labor, while spot on, did not fit the novel, neither did the gross obstetrics visit. Again, harm & damage for shock value. Not my cup of tea.
