The book was good! It’s one that you really have to pay attention to because it goes back and forth from current time to past time. Like most crime books, there’s the twist at the end that you don’t see coming. It was an enjoyable read, but the authors writing style isn’t one that I particularly enjoy. If her other books are like this, I probably won’t read them.

I have seen this book all over Instagram, so I had to pick it up, and I was not disappointed. This is my first Kubica novel, and it has given me high hopes for the others I have by her.
This story is told from multiple POVs and different timelines. It is also very fast-paced and twisty. I liked reading Meredith's POV knowing the whole time she ends up going missing along with her daughter. Anxiety! Those chapters went by fast because I wanted to see where things went wrong for her. I also felt like all the characters played a part in the story, and it wasn't overwhelming.
This story did keep me guessing along the way. There was a plot point with a couple of characters that I felt like wasn't finished. I am pretty sure I know the outcome of it, but it would have been nice to read about it. Some of the police work was unrealistic. Pretty sure the police can tell when someone's wounds are self inflicted or not...However, I really enjoyed the authors take on female reproductive healthcare. I haven't seen that much written about it in books.

Listened to the audiobook and the narrator was decent. The book started out strong but I found some parts to be disturbing as I listened to the scene. I guess that’s good in a way as it drew me in but then the story flopped near the end. Without giving spoilers it was unbelievable with how things came to light. It was laughable and disappointing.
