Wow.
dark emotional inspiring sad medium-paced

The writing in this book was absolutely remarkable! In plain language, visuals were created in a way the reader could truly see and feel what was experienced. The author doesn't shy away from the most uncomfortable or gritty experiences, so it can be tough for an empathetic person to read, but the experiences paint a picture of an incredibly difficult life full of abuse, neglect, betrayal, and tragedy. The fact that anyone should have to endure so much is heartbreaking, but I appreciate her bravery in speaking out and raising awareness.

I was not prepared for this.

Emotional and brave. I couldn't put it down...couldn't leave Ruthie alone. My stomach lurched and I wanted to reach through the pages. Big content warning for survivors of abuse.

A stunning, if absolutely heartbreaking, account that I was lucky enough to hear read by Ruthie herself (audio book). I couldn't recommend this more.

Incredibly difficult but also incredibly good.

Such a sad story

Jesus.
