Simply heartbreaking

I waited a year for this book at the library.

Worth the wait.

Truthfully I only got halfway through because the subject matter was very sad and disturbing. Feel so badly for the kids raised in these cults !

This book makes Educated and Glass Castle and others seem mild! It is so hard for me to believe this all happened around the time I had kids (a little before). All so hard to believe, but apparently true. Another story of overcoming unbelievable conditions growing up and not just surviving, but apparently thriving.

4.5. I read some reviews of this book that said it was just so shocking and hard to put down, but I found that wasn’t the case until maybe 2/3rds of the way through. I still enjoyed reading it and yes, it is very shocking and at some points hard to read (or in my case, listen to).

I could not put it down. Ultimately fascinating yet horrifying memoir. Thank you to the author for living through trauma and sharing her experience.
