i originally read the after series when it was published on wattpad, and decided 10 years later to read the published versions.
reading this story again as a full fledged adult is an experience. the storyline is almost entirely based on emotional abuse and manipulation.
curiosity has gotten the better of me and i will be reading the entire series, but fair warning to those with no idea what they are jumping into with this series, it is not a light read.

This book actually made me so sad. The relationship portrayed in After is sick and so unhealthy. It’s not something anybody should have to put up with and I hate that it relies on the stupid trope that lovestruck women will put up with anything.

Tessa Young is a good girl with a good boyfriend and a very strict mother. Soon her world changes when she meets Hardin Scott with a British accent, lip ring, and tattoos. He’s rude but cute, different from everyone Tessa as ever met. Tessa hates him at first but than she’s left alone with him and everything changes. Tessa can’t keep herself away from him. She wants to know him. And then he wants to know her too. But things get rocky when he pushes her away but pulls her back in.

Angsty, Angsty is the right word for this story.
This book makes you feel every emotion that Tessa Young is feeling. When she is crying you feel like you are going to cry too. When she gets angry well you’ll be angry too. When she falls for Hardin you will fall too.
This book had so much emotion that I could not deal with it. I feel like this book also had scenes that could have been cut off and we would still get the same story either way.
This book could have been written better but hey it was after all a fanfiction of Harry Styles.

Tessa Young is a good girl but in the story she makes questionable things that a “good girl” should never do such as CHEATING ON THIER BOYFRIEND!
Hardin Scott, well he is a Possessive guy that beats up anything with a heartbeat and sleeps around with anything that wears a dress. He is the typical player and Alpha male.
This relationship is NOT HEALTHY but it’s a book and it’s entertaining.
