What a glorious and quietly spectacular book! So clever, emotionally pitch perfect and exquisitely executed so that it never slips into pastiche.

The tone of this is beautifully close to EE Nesbitt's writing and I can see why it was so popular. It suffers from the same overly pat moral rectitude as the 'original' novels, and the first three quarters works well. The ending feels somewhat rushed although I love the way The Psammead goes with Cyril. It made me cry.

DNF. It was so slow and I didn't really like the writing style.

I really enjoyed this book and the sensitivity the author used with the subject matter. Highly recommended.
