man... this book is just... meh.
the characters are weird. it's hard to like them, they not relatable at all, i don't think they have good chemistry and their relationship just feels wrong and toxic. the only reason why i didn't drop it was because i was truly intrigued by callum's trauma. i wanted to know what happened to him (i guess that's a good point in this book, the author really left us in the edge of our seat waiting for the reveal) only to be dissapointed. once callum revealed his trauma - and it was done in such a cold way, i couldn't sympathize with him at all - the book totally lost its thing. i just finished it cause at this point it was just a few pages left, and i hate dropping stories. i hated that oaklyn was his savior, the only possible woman, she fixed him (as if that's how trauma works). overall, the book just felt really rushed and bad developed, and even tho the whole story was about charactet development, i didn't see much of it. in one word: bad.

There are so many unrealistic things in this book, but if you look past that the story is enjoyable, even sweet.
There is quite a bit of juvenile talk between them. It just seemed very childish at times.
My biggest annoyance was the fact that the MC kept saying she’s 19 years old. If I remember anything about this book, it will be that Oak is 19 years old. However, I did become clear why this was heavy on his mind toward the end of the book.
When I say slow burn…sloooooooooow burn. Like more than halfway through the book until you get to anything substantial.
The amount of communication these characters shared was refreshing since most of the time authors overuse the miscommunication trope. Although, Oak’s voice did not seem to fit her character much. She was wise like an old soul, but I think the author meant to portray her as more mature and determined. Just another unrealistic part for me.
I was rooting for them toward the end of the book which is always a good sign, but there were just too many unrealistic scenarios that made this book fall short. There were also inconsistencies with the MCs reflections, which made the timeline confusing.
A good short read, but nothing outstanding.

This and several other Fiona Cole books have been recommended to me by Amazon for months now, and I finally took the plunge and read this.
It was way darker than I expected it to be, especially considering the name of the book.
Not that it was SUPER dark or anything, but there is past trauma that the hero has to deal with.
I didn't like the conflict in this all that much, but it didn't bother me enough not to inhale this in one sitting.

“I dreamed of making love to her under the stars.”
This was disappointing.
I really was excited about some forbidden teacher-student romance.
The book started off strong.
It got me hooked, with such intense suspense and sexual tension.
There was so much mystery on Callum's side that it got me nervous.
However, it started slowing down and nothing was really happening.
The plotline stayed neutral and no build-up was really happening even though we could feel the sexual elephant in the room.
I am grateful we got each of the main characters POV or it is a bore.
I wanted a more detailed storyline following Callum with his PTSD, trauma and history that affected him and his relationship with sex and women.
The plotline of the romance was cute and quick but nothing wow.
The chemistry was subtle as it wasn't heavily built up.
“Fuck, Oaklyn,” I breathed. “Not yet,” she panted out of breath. “But maybe someday.

Wow, I didn't have high hopes for this one but man, it was gooooooood. The idea of a sex club with voyeuristic theme and no actual sex between the performer and the voyeur? Pretty damn intriguing, if you ask me.
It was quite realistic to a great extent. Yes, there was a lot of sex scenes in it but considering it might fall into the category of erotica what do you expect? Overall, I like books with realistic human issues and this was very well written in that aspect.
The best part? They didn't have cringey nicknames for each other! Even the scenes didn't give me second hand embarrassment so I'd say this one was pretty fucking good.
