A fantastic novel about a small town and a family. I loved the main characters and the dialogue was witty throughout. Brilliant insights into family life (I loved the headstrong toddler!) and heartwarming without being corny. Just brilliant.

I can't remember why I put this on my to-read list. Maybe it was supposed to be funny? I mean, it WAS funny, but maybe that's why I added it?

It's contemporary fiction, set in a small town, and follows an attractive second-grade teacher's love life, and ... oh my goodness, I nearly fell asleep there. If you like contemporary fiction, you'll like this. And the writing is excellent, very good imagery. But this genre is not really my thing.

The way Jimmy was portrayed made me uncomfortable, as well as the fatphobic descriptions of other characters. Additionally the characters felt flat and there was no plot.
