3.11 AVERAGE

I have mixed feelings about this book. The prose was intriguing-- reminded me of Aimee Bender meets Christopher Durang. Peach is assaulted one night by Lincoln and must come to grips with the aftermath, including her unexplained physical changes.
In the #metoo world we live in, assault stories are especially relevant. All the same, the tangents in this book lost my attention rather than built character and suspense. For as thin as this book is, the lack of linearity made me more willing to put it down rather than read it straight through (which you absolutely could).
Still, worth a read. An interesting new literary voice.

A book that promises excellent things of a new author, Peach, for me, was just short of being great. Glass' prose and ideas show a lot of potential for her future works yet to come but she's clearly still cutting her teeth and finding her voice. Moments of this were unique and deeply intriguing, whilst others felt like too-close echoes of other authors who write in a similar way. I am interested to see what else Emma Glass releases in the future but for now this is a 2.5 for me.

This book is not for the faint of heart. I loved it. It is both brutal and tender, at times just plain gruesome, and reads like a prose poem, each word specifically chosen. There is a fearlessness here that I can only be in awe of.

What genre was this book labeled/marketed as? Because its 100% a horror novella. It was very strange but I liked it because it inspired me in my own writing to write without holding back strange and rhyhtmic thoughts. Also, I'm a horror fan so I actually liked the gruesomeness. The book reads like an acid trip that keeps dipping out of good and bad. It also reminded me of night terrors and anxiety, which I deal with, so it was uncanny at times.

I like the idea of a long-poem, short novel and would like to see more of them.

This is clearly not for everyone. I can't really explain the rating I gave it....

Peach is not your usual book, and it was recommended to me with a fair warning "it's weird, but it's great". Emma Glass' use of language was like no other, and that in itself is refreshing.
