“I didn’t know what life could be like until you shone your light into the dark. You are as indomitable as the sun. As integral to me as the lattice of marrow within my bones. And I love you, lille mejer.”
Marrow has everything from The Ruinous Love Trilogy that I love plus it’s darker, which is just what I was looking for!

Jack and Kyrie’s story was … interesting. Two serial killers playing games and falling in love. I really wanted to love this story but it was disconnected for me in a lot of places, and I feel the killing was highlighted over the romance. And, a predictable “plot twist” and ending.

"I had a pretty good doctor. He didn't even sew his initials into it."
"He sounds very professional. And devastatingly handsome”
"He sure likes to think so."
THIS.
I don’t think even think I have all the words. I loved this.
Jack and Kyrie were so fun. I loved the banter. I loved the thunderdome. If anything, I wanted more of that.

Did you read Butcher and Blackbird and want the tone to be darker? I present Marrow. Similar premise of two serial killers but they're academic rivals and intent on destroying each other. The plot twists had good foreshadowing and I liked the darker tone of a premise I enjoyed. It can get a little gruesome but still ended up being unintentionally funny at parts.
