I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley.

Second book in the series and yes it does have me hooked. I mean what more can they throw at that poor girl?

Stella has fallen in love with the devil. She seems to have everyone falling in love with her. And she is finally starting to understand how high the stakes really are for winning/losing the Acquisition trials.

The story is certainly interesting and although a bit twisted it is written in a captivating style and I actually cannot wait for the third book to come out.

The story gets darker as we fall with Sin and Stella into the deep dark depraved rabbit hole that is the acquisition finally a little more light shed on its reason and rules.... The emotions in the book flit around alot which I sometimes find disconcerting but other than that a compelling read

Although not as enjoyable as the first one it still is a pretty great read. My heart was literally in my throat for almost this entire book. I was also on the edge of my seat couldn't wait to see what happened next. I was intrigued from start to finish and still very much in love with both characters. I do so love me a tortured hero and Sin is proving to be one of my absolute faves. I really can't wait to finally get the answers to all of my questions and see how this all ends.

I started this book wondering how Stella was going to fare with being with Lucius instead of Sin. But in the end things turned out for the best they can be. I love how some way all three Vinemont brothers have wormed their ways into Stella's heart. And they all just want to protect her from anymore pain but they must follow the acquistion trials amd rules. This book was great! It was a great follow up to Counsellor. But talk about jaw dropping ending. I don't want anything to happen to him!!! ugh. I suppose I better read the final book ASAP to see what happens!!!

Magnate by Celia Aaron is a book I happened across while scrolling through NetGalley and I was immediately intrigued by what I read in the summary. Since this was a book two, I immediately went to purchase book one so I could get fully caught up in this story. If you haven’t read book one, you might want to hold off on reading this review as I don’t want to ruin anything. With that said, this book is probably not for everyone so be warned.

This book picks up shortly after book one ends. Stella has chosen Lucius after being pushed too far by Sinclair and even though Lucius tries to pretend he will make things better for Stella, he isn’t going to pull her from the trials. The way he looks at it, he can do what is required within the competition and save Sinclair from having to make the hard decisions. In the end, that doesn’t change anything for Stella. The only difference is that now she can pretend she doesn’t care what happens to her father…even though deep down she still does.

This book does explore the feelings that Stella and Sinclair have for each other a bit more and it delves deeper into some of the pieces of The Acquisition but we still don’t know all the details. I did like that we learned more about the Vinemont family and how they ended up within the upper end of society as well as what the boys’ mother went through the year she participated…as well as where it has now left her.

I thought Aaron did a great job of tying Dylan into this story and it was interesting to see how he changed by being absorbed in this environment and how much of a shift his character took when everything came to a head. I am curious to see what happens with him (if anything) in the next installment.

I am glad I came across this book (and series). There is more to this one than the erotica pieces which I appreciate. Don’t get me wrong, the rest of it is twisted and not for everyone but I still found myself turning the pages to find out what was going to happen next for Stella.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the review copy.

I did not see that one coming! I knew the rules had to be something big for Lucius to back out and both of them to be scared of it.. but this.. I did not see this! I need book 3 like right now! can't wait until april!
