I read this book for school.
This was truly adorable. I honestly had never heard of this and was surprised to hear it was made into a movie.
I really enjoyed how the story was told, you sort of have the storyteller that is telling you everything that is happening and calling you "reader."

Despereaux was chosen as my annual Dicamillo read and it did not disappoint. Beautiful story as always. Big thanks to my nephew for the suggestion and gentle encouragement.
What a charming book! I have heard from many people how good of a read this is and it didn't disappoint. It's a book that tells about kindness, love, and bravery, through the eyes of a lovable mouse. I cannot wait for my kids to be old enough that I can share it with them!
7/31/2019 Reread: I liked it more on the reread and read it aloud with my 3 and 5-year-old. They enjoyed it (especially the older sister) and asked for "one more chapter" every single day. I would definitely recommend this as a read aloud!
