“If we'd never met, I think I would have known my life wasn't complete. And I would have wandered the world in search of you, even if I didn't know who I was looking for.”
“If there is a heaven, we will find each other again, for there is no heaven without you.”

Personally I preferred the movie more, I think it told the story in a better way and involved together both romances told than in the book, I loved the friendship showed in the movie between two of the main characters and without it in the book the end of it didn't really make much sense to me like it did in the movie.
But all in all it's a unique and moving romance that I loved reading.

I was sceptical to read this and it took two months after my brother gave it to me for Christmas that I finally cracked it open.
I make it a point to read a book if I want to see the movie adaptation of it and I was pleasantly surprised.
The stories were both sweet and full of emotion. Ira and his wife led a truly blessed life and it is clear from his memories that he loved her dearly. His memories were bittersweet and full of life.
Luke and Sophia are at the beginning of their story which is also portrayed wonderfully with all the nuance of blossoming love.
It was different to read one story that is ending and one that is beginning at the same time. I knew the stories would intertwine and I anticipated this with each new chapter.
I was not left wanting once I got there. Nicholas Sparks tore my heart out when Sophia met Ira and read his letter to his wife.
The events that followed were sort of predicable in the way that ties up the loose ends nicely.
As always, there are minor characters and events that could have been left out, such as the betrayal of Sophia’s best friend dating her cheating ex because there was more than enough between the couple and Ira’s memories to sustain the book.
I have seen trailers for the movie and I am worried it wont follow the book as closely as his previous book to movies, but if it packs half the emotional punch as the book it will be worth watching.

The ending almost pushes this up to 4, but the overall score is a 3.
This is a very sweet combination of romances. I enjoyed how the two stories were so different, and yet so similar. A quick read, but an emotional one. Have tissues for the middle.
A sweet love story, but I think the ending was too predictable. Anyway, I liked it and I enjoyed reading it.

To be completely honest it wasn’t the very worst, but I was just bored. I could’ve done without the Ira plot but also sophie wasn’t very fleshed out as a character. I think I only liked Luke because he was a hot cowboy.
