3.5 stars for good ole nicky sparks...I have nothing to prove here so I’m just gonna say: some of this book was so INCREDIBLY beautiful that I was near tears and some of it was ...eh! if you are a person who loves art and history and is deeply emotional (talking about myself here, obviously) you will probably like it a lot and see the beauty in it! if you’re not those things maybe just ~move along~
This Nicholas Sparks book didn't make me cry as much as his others. The Notebook, good Lord! But there were definitely it's moments and he just really understands how to create his characters so you can feel them and know how they are feeling and are mad when someone hurts them. Nicholas Sparks is a great story teller.
SPOILER:
I really enjoyed this story. Ira's remembering while telling the story of Sophia and Luke falling in love with each other. It took me a while to figure out the connection. And I was bummed when Ira didn't adjust his will before he died after Luke and Sophia found him. However, the auction was brilliant. I love that. And I love that Luke got it and understood the story. Ira did a great job coming up with that ploy and I thought I was in the auction hall and could hear the pin drop when others understood what was going on.
I love that Ruth kept Ira alive long enough to ensure that Luke and Sophia would come across him and learn of the auction and understand their story to enable Luke to inherit the collection of art. A nice way to pull all the characters together.

solid, but i wanted more romance and i think i like the movie more
Once opened I did not put this book down until I was finished. I loved Luke and Sophie. I am going to watch the movie now I have finished reading the book.
It took me forever to get through this one. I'm usually a big fan of Nicholas Sparks, but it wasn't until the very end that I felt anything with this one. I'm thinking the movie will be much better.

♥️ Art and love romance. Unguessable ending.
This is quite possibly one of my favorite romance novels of all time. This book just strikes every sweet chord in your body. From the side story of Ira Levinson to the journey of why Luke Collins bull rides to the story of sweet Sophia... I still cry when I watch the movie. I still love the ending. I still want to read this book again. This book puts Nicholas Sparks on my top read list. I'll continue to read his books to find another one that moved me the same way this one did. Truly beautifully written.
I want to write a proper full review of this beautiful book, so I will be back on here with that review after I write it out.
I have never read a Nicholas Spark book but for some reason this book just called to me when I was trying to pick out some new books to pick up and I'm sooo happy I got it! I honestly was a little iffy on if I was going to like it but in the end I fell in love with both Ira and Ruth as well as Luke and Sophia.
