good beginning, slooow middle, clever ending.

Love Love Love. <3
2 Love stories told concurrently going back and forth and they intersect at the end in a wonderful, but not surprising way.
Ira and Ruth: Ira is in a car accident and stuck in the snow. He talks with his dead wife and recounts their life together. His time in the war and all the times he fell in love with her, writing her letters every anniversary, buying art together because he loved the way she looked when she looked at the art. They could never have children, she was a teacher. She passed away years earlier and missed her so and hung all of the art all over the house. Millions of $$$ worth of art.
Luke and Sophia: Sophia is an art student at Wake Forest and meets Luke, a bull rider, at a rodeo. Where he rescues her from her crazy cheating ex boyfriend. They fall in love. They spend time together at his ranch. I loved reading about the rodeos and his ranch, dog and horse. He tells of a bull riding incident in which is almost lost his life. Crazy Critter, a mean bull, threw him and stampeded him. Left him with a plate in the back of his skull that if he gets another head injury, could kill him. He needs to ride to get the money to save his ranch and pay back all of the medical bills.
SPOILER: Luke decides to leave riding for his mom and Sophia. Luke and Sophia rescue Ira from the snow accident. she reads his last letter to his wife for him. But he dies a few days later in the hospital. Luke and Sophia go to an art auction, and Luke buys the first painting, a portrait of Ruth that her favorite student had drawn. For Ira to show the world how much Ruth meant to him, he surprises everyone at the auction with his will request. The entire collection goes to whomever bought the portrait of Ruth -- Luke! He is an instant millionaire and they live happily ever after. (Yep, it was one of those kind of endings)

Honestly, I started this book 2 other times in the past couple of years but life got in the way. This time I finally committed and finished and boy am I glad I did! THIS is the Nicholas Sparks that I love! Two love stories being told at the same time. At first, I wasn't too found of the Ira and Ruth storyline but then as you begin to see the love he has play out for his wife, you start to tear up. There were two shocking moments in this book for me and they really sent my emotions in a spiral. Definitely recommend this one! Now on to see if the movie lives up to the book!

This book was so good. I loved the romantic storyline. Can't wait to read more romance books!

Probably a 3 1/2 stars. Nothing objectively wrong with it. Just wasn’t my cup of tea.

This novel made me cried like 3 times, it's beautiful and full of emotions, for me it's just the perfect romantic history, this is probably my favorite Nicholas Sparks book❤️

It was a nice light read and helped me break a reading slump just in time for summer.

I haven't read a NS book since Safe Haven, which I hated let me tell you. But I saw this book in the library and since I had recently seen the trailer for the movie, I thought why not. It wasn't life-changing, but it was a cute romantic book that I enjoyed reading.
