Hilarious

I didn’t “love it” but I liked it. It was hilarious. The characters were lively and interesting.

Fast fun read

This was a surprise, free reads aren't always this good. I'm really looking forward to reading more from this author!

Let me start by saying, "Wow!" I already loved Alyssa's work, so I was more than excited to try this new series from her. From the first sentence, the characters leaped off the page for me. I instantly started reading the book in a Southern accent before I even knew much about Tess. And the more I read, the more I loved her-and Jack. Alyssa has hit it out of the park with this series. Dead End is it's own little world, and I love getting lost in it. I would recommend this book to anyone. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Great mystery

Loved this book! The storyline was well written, the characters had chemistry, and I was sucked in so quickly, I couldn’t put the book down! I especially liked the twists at the end of the story... I got to the point that I thought I knew exactly what would happen, and was happy to have been wrong.

I have loved Alyssa Day as an author from the first time I picked up her Warriors of Poseidon series. She has this incredible ability to make the reader feel like these extraordinary events could really happen. I managed to get an ARC and omg it was awesome.
This book is picking up with a much loved character from her Warriors series, Jack. Jack has been through a lot, and he finally makes his way home to Dead End to take care of some family business. He reconnects with Tess, who he hasn't seen since she grew up. The tension between the two as they go through everything is just what you can always expect from Alyssa. The humor is a cross between cheesy and geeky, which I adore. It's a romance without forcing sex down your throat. It's a thriller murder mystery without the glowing spotlight solving the case in the first five pages.
Basically, I loved this book. It hits across many genres but still holds its own. I can't wait to see what's next for Jack and Tess.
Sorry it's so vague but I hate spoilers and everything I want to squeal about could be spoiling a point for someone, so I'm forcing myself to contain it.

If you like your mysteries with humor and a bit of magic this is the story for you. This is a spin-off from another series but can be read stand alone with no issues.
Who says you can’t go home again. You can but things will be very different as tiger shape-shifter Jack Shepherd finds out when he comes home after the war. His uncle was murdered and little Tess Callahan is all grown up and now your partner. Things are always strange in Dead Eye but things have gotten weirder than usual and Jack and Tess are determined to get to the bottom of it hopefully before it kills them.
I really got a kick out of this. Fans of Charlaine Harris will enjoy this book.

Had all the ingredients for a good urban fantasy mystery but missing the spark that breathes life into it all. Generic characters. Generic plot. Fine but boring
