So. I gave this book 3/5 ⭐⭐⭐
Reason one: the pace of this story is way to quick and a lot of details could have been talked about and I felt that so much was skipped over. There were scenes that happened so quick I was left saying "wait hold on what happened there I'm confused"? Many times.
Reason two: while the main character has a decent story line written for her, I just found pieces of her story missing along with death.
The positive is that this concept is really amazing and I feel with better planning and longer explanation of things this could be 5 stars. Slow down and explain yourself with writing. My one critique. Otherwise I enjoyed the story.

I loved every bit of this book. Signe Farrow has lived what she thinks of as a cursed life - her parents died when she was a baby, and her guardians her whole life (watching over her until she comes of age and inherits her fortune) meet unpleasant ends.. and on top of that, Signe can see spirits, and death incarnate.
When she comes to live with cousins, she is determined to not let fate repeat itself.. her cousin is at death's door and she vows to save her.
This is a perfect book to kick off spooky season (which starts in September for me, lol). The writing was awesome, the mystery was compelling, and the narration was fantastic. Absolutely loved it and looking forward to the rest of the series! (very minor spice)
