The book kept me guessing, and the twists? Love it. However, the romance felt a little out of nowhere, but overall an enjoyable and fun read! Cant wait to start on foxglove.
“The bluish glow of translucent spirits who filled the estate as Death plucked them for their bodies. Some went peacefully, taking the hands of their partner as they awaited on escort into the afterlife. Others tried to claw their way back into their bodies, or to flee from a reaper who did not give chase.” (3)

“What might it be like to be a woman like that? To be swept away across the country by a handsome man she couldn’t stop grinning at, silly with happiness?” (30)
“I will paint, and travel, and wander the halls at night so that I may sleep until the afternoon should I desire. I will have a hound, or three, and I’ll spend my mornings riding horseback with no one to care for but myself. There are no limits to what I might do, for I will be wholly in charge.” (203)
Very, very interesting concept but I would have loved more of an emphasis on the fantasy elements or myth retellings instead of the murder mystery with ghosts. Overall, still an amazingly immersive book. Loved the concept of death personified. And really liked the ghost in the library who had read every book (iconic).
