This was a surprise! I know a lot of folks aren’t a big fan of this one, but I had a good time. It is very YA. In some parts it was definitely a full “I would die for you, Riley” scale from Inside-Out. That’s not too surprising for YA, it’s going to have larger divides between the characters, the miscommunication trope, and when it comes to Fate, it’s in with both feet here. None of that takes away from the story itself. It was a little like House of Salt and Sorrows in there are ghosts, a mystery to solve, and some otherworldly influences at play throughout the entire book. I like the way it told the story, and even though there was a very small pacing issue, for a YA novel I do tend to give it a pass. I think it helped that I came in with zero expectations and knew nothing of the plot. If you’re looking for baby spooky season, or just need a book to decompress between heavy hitters, this one is pretty fun!
This book was part of a buddy read and also has been recommended 300 times, so I thought was a good time to start it. The book starts fenomenal with the prologue. The beginning feels a bit slow and no as exiting as I was expecting. Signa sometimes gets on my nerves and her ideals and expectations.
I can easily said the best characters in the book are Death and Silas.
The whole story is good but it could have been a standalone, I don’t like how the cliffhanger is executed to be honest but is not surprising given the author style. Overall is a enjoyable book and I will definitely recommend. Hopefully the next one is better.

3.75⭐️ A dreamy, cozy, fantasy, (not overwhelmingly) romantic murder mystery. I was intrigued right away and the story held my attention throughout. I guessed the “big reveal” in the very beginning, but it was still a fun story to follow along. The plot itself is fascinating and compelling, not to mention a unique concept on death. It sort of reminded me of One Dark Window vibes, which I absolutely loved.
