I was so confused when I was reading this book because the Bea (the narrator) kept switching between elements of the story, interviews with the judicial inspector, and a letter to her sister all within the same chapter. The ending of this psychological thriller was totally unexpected.

i admit that i was drawn right in and kept reading quickly. but i felt totally manipulated, sure that there was some "trick, secret, surprise" coming and didn't really think it was well done. too heavy handed?

A three star read during the book but jumps up to four because of the twist at the end. I was going to give it three, but since I knock stars off for sucky endings I think I can do the reverse. probably a 3.5 really.

Editing to add:
Nope. Three stars. I thought about overnight as you do when you can't sleep. I was difficult to follow the writing for the first half of the book. The points of view and someone telling someone, telling someone a story, back to "now", back to then. The end was exciting but a lot of the journey was bleh. I would not recommend people to skip it, but looking at the other books I've given four stars to then nope. Three.

Kept me guessing the whole way through.  Would have liked an epilogue

3.5 stars. 3.75 stars. Ahh, I can't decide between a 3 and a 4 star rating. I enjoyed the language of the book very much - I think I was a bit let down by the twist at the end.

a very interesting book...the storyline totally captivated me but the writing style was too all over the place and I found it took me a while to adjust. Even at the end I don't like the writing but I am to into the story to stop.

I thought this was a well-written thriller with a twist at the end that caught me completely off-guard. A good summer read!

I really enjoyed this book. It had a good story about a woman who refused to believe her sister comitted suicide and went on a quest to find a killer that no one believed existed. It was written as one long letter from one sister to another and some reviewers didn't quite care for that style but I liked it. It was different. You got the whole story in order in addition to reading Bee's thoughts and feelings as she is relating what happened to her deceased sister. I am definately going to read the next book by this author as I think she has great talent and a very different writing style.

Bee is devastated by the death of her sister- and the police's verdict of suicide. She begins her own investigation into Tess' death. Great thriller, I didn't figure out the truth until the narrator did. A side plot deals with genetic engineering.
