I don't think I've ever been this disappointed in a series. I enjoyed the first 2 and a half books, but then? I don't even know what happened. How can the heroine start so great and just devolve into her worst version? I would have taken a flat character (if character growth was not possible) over this. I don't think I will read the last book in the series. With the way this book ended and the reviews I read, I won't waste any more of time with it.

I am seeing a lot of reviews that are mad that the main characters aren't likeable. I actually really appreciate that about the book. To me they are realistic. Especially Eugenie. She makes really really dumb decisions sometimes and tends to think with her vag rather than her brain, but that's pretty realistic too. I know people like that. I've *been* people like that. I also really appreciate the way that topics like birth control, sexual assault and abortion are handled. They are messy and not without flaws but again, that seems pretty realistic to me. I don't like Eugenie. I don't want to hang out with her or get drinks with her and have a spa day with her. But I *recognize* her. And I *understand* her. And to me, that is way better than a prettily written MC.

Best book in the series so far; still not fault-free, but it reads quite well.

Hmpf! Most n of this book annoyed me. Miss Thorn Queen was awful. Her reasoning and actions where fiddle and her "love life" was a joke. Yes she's caught in the middle of a "love" triangle, but apparently there's not much love there, as evident from the quick shifts from one to the other and back again. She's awfully fast to condemn one and redeem the other. I'm left with the feeling that she's just drawn to whichever man fit the scheme of the day.
And the plot... there was absolutely no reason for Mr. Fox to go with her on her quest. It's nothing more than a unimaginable plot device created to cause some drama in the end. It could have been done in a more elegant way.
But the ending of the book did engage me a bit more and I will read the last one in the series. I dread it since it seems as though a lot of people really don't like the last book.

Iron Crowned takes Eugenie's story to a whole new level. New releationships are formed and old ones are broken while Eugenie fights to save her land and her people from a devastaing War. After winning the Iron Crown and conquering a new land, Eugenie finds herself with some unexpected news that will have other Monarch's trying to kill her, as well as a man she onces loved...and trusted.

Dramatic twists and gut-wrenching turns, Richelle doesn't fail to shock and left me gasping for the next book as if my life depended on it.

There were places in this book where I hated some of the characters but still the ending was good.
