This one fell flat for me. Phury didn't grow on me like the other characters have throughout the series. Even with all of his issues, I expected more. The Wizard was a total annoyance... I was just ready for him to shut it! As with the previous book in the series there were a lot of subplots, and in this instance, they turned out to be of more interest than the main characters.

My least fave so far. I wish the MCs had spent time together like just getting to know each other and such. In all the other books even tho there's insta-love/bonding the MCs do spend time together which builds their relationships.

I give the Phury and Cormia part of the story a 3 star but I give John, quinn and blays story a 4 star. With the other books mentioning John and the boys I wasn't really all that interested but with this novel it delved more deeply into their stories and it made me attach more so to them this time around. I usually don't get too invested in the background characters stories and mostly focus on the main characters and their romantic journey but this time around I was very interested in Johns and couldn't wait until I got back to their part!

In the last book when they were mentioned it just didn't seem to give me enough of them and their part was short and went right back to V and Jane's story and was more so focused on them. In Lover Enshrined I felt like there wasn't much of a story about Cormia and Phury. Now don't get me wrong I still enjoyed it but it was kinda like they would see each other, get close, then one of the would back away and leave before it went any further and then they'd go off and do something else and then repeat process. It felt as though they rarely even saw each other and therefore I didn't feel very much of a connection as I did when I read Ward's previous novels.

With Johns story I felt so very connected. He's become one of my favorite characters now because he seems like such a real person and so innocent and just dang cute. He's not as hard as the others and I like that diversity (it'd get boring if they all had the same type of personality). It makes him stand out more. Even though he's sweet, kind, and sometimes shy he still has a complexity about him. He has his own demons to deal with and I predict he'll play a bigger part in other future novels when time comes. I really can't wait to get to the novel that's all about him, I'm excited to see what happens with him and where he goes!

One of the most interesting yet! Great book with lots of action, suspense, and drama...Now on to the insiders guide. I <3 this series
adventurous dark emotional hopeful tense medium-paced

I liked the portions of the book that did not center around Phury - they kept the story moving and kept me interested to read the next book in the series.

Phury's story was just plain boring. Five hundred pages of Phury smoking, moping around and listening to the "wizard" was a little much. Phury attending human NA meetings - really?

Not as good as the previous five books but all in all I did enjoy Phurys and Cormia's story.

Really hated this one. I'd recommend reading the first three in this series but stopping there. This one reads like bad fanfic.

The things I hated were:

The ridiculous names for the characters
The absurd slang which makes no sense for the characters ages.
Poor writing.
