love, love, love this series

2.5/5

This installment of the BDB series, just did not quite do it for me. I still enjoyed being in the world and building on the plot, but it felt more like a transition book in the series, not like the previous one.

I did like how through Phury and Cormina's relationship the Chosen system was dismantled, but even though this book was suppose to be about their relationship, it was not what took center stage for me in this book. I was mostly focused on John, Qhuinn, and Blay's experience.

Speaking of the three friends, I loved how we got more into their relationship dynamic. John is still learning to navigate his desires and figuring out who he is, and Qhuinn and Blay's relationship has changed drastically. I looking forward to see how it plays out (with my fingers crossed for a good outcome). Also, I will go down on the John and Xhex ship, even though I know it going to hurt me until we get to port....LOL

Overall, just another installment in the series, one which even though is not the most engaging, I would say is still important read bc of the plot points that are introduced and closed.

I feel tough about my rating choice because, unfortunately, Phury’s love story didn’t really do it for me. But the story within the world was great, so the rest would probably get more.

PS I would like a whole Blay book. Please and thank you.

Poor Phury. I love the guy but honestly why doesn't he just wake up and pull his shit together?
I'm glad things worked out,but seriously. this book was soooooo frustrating!!!!

While I still am enjoying the series, this instalment wasn't my favourite. I enjoyed reading Phury's story but there seemed to be something lacking in this book. I still look forward to reading the rest of the series.

3.5 stars! I liked it but I didn't love it.

Simply put Phury was frustratingly infuriating if all these couples could just learn to communicate!!!!! However, I'm, sure if they learned to communicate properly there would be no story

This is not my favorite novel of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. However, as I've been re-reading the series I found myself appreciating Phury's story more than I did the first time I read the series. I think this is in part because I already know what's going to happen, at least up to The Thief ;). This particular book is also a great builder of the next arch in the series. This meant that the pacing was slower than some of the other books, and you had to wait a long while for the Phury to realize he actually loved and was bonding with someone other than Bella, but I appreciate all the detail that went into preparing me as a reader for the next stories. It still isn't my favorite novel in the series, but I appreciate it much more than I did the first time I read these books.

I think I skimmed this one even worse than the Butch and Bland Blondie story from earlier in the series. Again, it may be the meds so I'm not one-starring this book but I couldn't get into it at all. I don't even know how the two characters hooked up. I did read the end it and was very cute and endearing and it made me smile (everyone learning daily living activities).
