There is zero doubt in my mind that the morning show is based on Katie courier and Matt Lauer. The end.

As someone who grew up with Katie Couric on the Today Show, I have followed her career as a journalist and public figure for years. In this book, she candidly recounts her life in the spotlight and shares her journey of wins and losses in the news world. I loved how she wrote, simultaneously being so lyrical and poetic while also making me laugh out loud at her candid humor. I loved learning more about her and getting her perspective on some of the biggest moments in her career, both good and bad. Despite this books length, I finished it in two days as I felt I was personally getting to know Katie and was enthralled in her impressive life thus far.

I LOVED listening to this book! It’s a back stage look at her life and journalism and current events. She’s open and vulnerable, reflective and funny. Worth a listen!

I read this nearly 500 page book in roughly 3 days because it is THAT compulsively readable. The short chapters and easy storytelling just keep you turning the page. Katie has such an incredible story and she really covers a lot in Avery thoughtful, compelling and self-aware way. She owns up to mistakes she made while also driving home the point that she’s just a person trying her best. I wasn’t necessarily a huge Katie Couric fan before reading this, but I loved learning more about her trailblazing and her own personal story as well as remembering the HUGE moments in history that she covered. I revisited (or watched for the first time) a number of the interviews she mentioned in the book and it’s really amazing to consider all that has happened on the course of her career. A solid, fast and well-done memoir. I really enjoyed it (much more than I thought I would!)

Gotta hand it to her - she’s honest. Sometimes humbly; sometimes tactlessly; sometimes admirably; sometimes cringingly; but always authentically, which is something I hold in high regard. I appreciate the unapologetic way she handled her career and family, yet she DOES apologize when it’s called for. I admire her tenacity, intelligence, warmth, confidence, humility and ambition. She seems to be the kind of woman I could become fast friends with.
