Firstly, I'm not a huge fan of Couric and knew very little about her life before reading this. Now I feel like we could be pals. I'm so glad that I didn't listen to the reviews and that I read this book and came to my own conclusions. I don't love that she talks about Larry King or RGB as they are not alive to defend themselves, but I suppose if Couric is involved it's her story to tell as well and also this is a very small tidbit of the book. That is really my only slight criticism as I admire people who leave secure career positions to put themselves out there for new challenges, and that's what Couric has done time and again. This book has a lot to say and she doesn't really hold back. I didn't understand how she could really lay it all out there, but as she now owns her own media company KCM, it all makes a lot more sense. My advice is don't listen to others' opinions on this book. Pick it up and make up your own mind. I'm glad I did. Tip: I highly recommend the audio book with the special little bonus at the end which was perhaps my favorite part. Very moving, fascinating, empowering, and enlightening!

Super revealing and honest memoir. She doesn’t shy away from talking about her faults and mistakes she made in her very public career and life, which was refreshing and self-aware. I also love all the name dropping of people she interviewed, dated, or came across. I came away with a great respect for her work ethic, ability to reinvent herself over the years, and dedication to cancer research. She turned a horrible loss into action, and it was encouraging to see how she finally found new love later in life. I hope she makes her way back to 60 Minutes or another news program at some point because I do love her as a TV personality, so it was great to read more of her life behind the scenes.

Katie Couric set the standard for women in broadcast journalism as she rose the ranks to becoming a household name everyone seemed to know and love. When she chose to leave the TODAY show, her influence became less obvious, though her book details it all from the beginning to her current status.
I am impressed with her tenacity and trailblazing ways...but also? I'm bored. For someone who has interviewed and rubbed elbows with the most impressive people in the world, I had much higher expectations for her memoir where she promises the audience is going to get "the whole me".
Early reviews had already turned me off of this one, but I decided to give it a fair shot when it arrived in my book mail.
It would have been better to let her mythical perception remain my sole interpretation of her because after reading this memoir, she falls kind of flat for me. I’m not saying she doesn’t deserve a place in journalism history, I just wanted more from this book. In my opinion, she came across catty at times and I could have done without her attempts at being funny with those awkward one-liners that came after every story she told. I’m probably breaking some Katie Couric stans’s hearts, but she lacks the relatability factor for me.
